Death toll decreases in drunk driving and fire accidents

The Ministry of Public Security said the drunk driving and fire accidents death toll has decreased by 13.2 percent and 25.1 percent respectively from January to September, Xinhuanet reported.

The traffic control bureau under the ministry said 45,789 people were killed in 165,189 road traffic accidents along with 197,527 injured and a property loss of 640 million yuan ($107 million), dropping down by 16.1 percent, 10.5 percent, 14.6 percent and 18.9 percent respectively.

The fire control bureau of the ministry said 799 people died and 461 were injured in 97,366 fire accidents nationwide. The totals decreased by 5.3 percent and 25.1 percent respectively.
