Armed robber arrested in NE China

CHANGCHUN: A fugitive on suspicion of armed robbery and murder was arrested Friday in northeast China's Jilin Province, local police said here Saturday.

The suspect was alleged to have robbed 170,000 yuan ($24,890) cash at a bank in the provincial capital of Changchun, and killed one man and injured another with home-made explosives while being chased, a municipal public security bureau spokesman said.

After three days of blanket search, the police found and arrested the suspect named Li Guangqing with his self-made gun and the money in Songjia Township of Changchun, according to the spokesman.

Li has confessed the robbery and killing to the police, he added.
