Bank robber kills one, injures one in northeast China

CHANGCHUN: A man shot dead one person and injured another when he robbed a bank in northeast China's Jilin Province Tuesday afternoon, local police said.

The man robbed a bank in the provincial capital of Changchun at about 2:40 pm and stole 170,000 yuan ($24,890) cash. He killed one man while being chased and then shot a taxi driver who refused to let him enter his cab, a municipal public security bureau spokesman said.

Further details of the robbery are not available.

The taxi driver was being treated in hospital, the spokesman said.

Police are still hunting the robber.
