China to launch press center for National Day gala

BEIJING: A press center providing facilities for Chinese and foreign journalists attending the upcoming National Day celebrations will open on September 22.

The center, located at the Media Center Hotel in downtown Beijing, will also provide information services for journalists, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee said on Wednesday.

Reporters from outside the mainland have to apply formally from August 3 to August 23 if they want to cover the celebrations for the 60th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China, which falls on October 1.

Taiwan reporters should apply for accreditation via the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.  Reporters from Hong Kong and Macao should apply through the liaison offices of the Central People's Government in their respective administrative regions.

Foreign reporters abroad should apply to Chinese embassies if they wish to cover the activities. Those stationed in Hong Kong and Macao should apply to offices of the commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and Macao. Foreign reporters resident in the Chinese mainland should send applications to the Information Department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

All reporters will have to present certification from their news organizations and ID.
