The staff of Shenzhen Safari Park wanted the zoo's monkeys, tigers, bears and hippos to join in last weekend's celebration of Dragon Boat Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday.

So they made special plates of zongzi - a food associated with the holiday - for the animals.

The zoo's clever chefs had to substitute some ingredients. Instead of using bamboo leaves as wrappers, they used wheat, corn, sweat potato and fish bone flours. For the filling, they used eggs, meat, chestnuts and seafood instead of traditional sticky rice.
