Initial estimates of the Sichuan earthquake showed that 14,207 industrial enterprises suffered 67 billion yuan (US$9.581 billion) of direct economic loss in the calamity, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xi Guohua said at a press conference here on Monday.

A 8.0-magnitude quake jolted southwestern Sichuan Province on May 12.
