JOHANNESBURG -- South African Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Wednesday conveyed on behalf of the government and people of South Africa her deepest condolences to the government and people of China following the devastating earthquake in Sichuan Province Monday.

"The thoughts and prayers of the government and people of South Africa indeed reach out to the government and people of China and in particular, families of those who have lost their loved ones. We also commiserate with those who have lost all their worldly possessions and face displacement at this time," said the minister.

"Accordingly, we join the international community in extending our sincere condolences to the government and people of China and will support international efforts for humanitarian relief," concluded the minister.
