A student surnamed Wang, 27, was caught calling in a hoax to police because he could not bear the pressure of examinations in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, late last week.

Wang had called police and asked for help because someone "wanted to kill him and his family".

After an investigation, police discovered that Wang had had some sort of mental breakdown because of stress.

Wang's roommates told police that he had been nervous for several days and that he always had nightmares because of the great pressure.

Police urged Wang to see a psychotherapist.
