Top legislature adopts amended law on protection of disabled

BEIJING - China's top legislature on Thursday adopted the amendment to the Law on Protection of the Disabled, which is expected to better protect the rights and interests of the disabled in the run-up to the Beijing 2008 Paralympics in September.

The amended law, which will come into effect on July 1, 2008, has gone through the second deliberation by lawmakers at the second session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) held from Tuesday to Thursday.
