A 21-year-old university student surnamed He has been bothered by crank calls since she purchased a mobile phone number that was once used in a lonely heart advertisement, in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province.

At least 16 men have called trying to date He since December. He was even called a con woman after she refused the callers' requests.

When He went to the dating agency to sort the matter out she was told her number had been used in a lonely hearts advertisement, but the account was overdue.

It's believed the mobile phone company re-sold the number.
