Traffic department in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou has introduced yellow and white crosswalk stripes downtown to better protect passers-by from an increasing number of traffic accidents.

The high-visibility yellow and white combination sends a stronger signal to both drivers and pedestrians passing the crosswalk, reminding them to be alert to potential dangers, a local traffic cop told the Today Morning Express.

The stripes have been well-received by nearby communities. If the trial stripes prove effective, these stripes will be replicated on other major roads in the city.
