A 30-year-old woman surnamed Liang who works as a salesperson for a company in Gongzhuling, Jilin province, was fired on Sunday along with several other female colleagues because they were divorced.

Angered by the decision, they fired questions at a senior manager who said that it is part of the company's corporate culture to fire divorcees.

"Although it's unfair for them, it's a rule that has been in place for the last 20 years," he said.

He said his boss feared that divorced women would develop immoral relations with the companies' agents, which might damage the company's image.
