The investigation said the blast, which also injured 36, resulted when boxes of plastic caps for toy guns collided with each other during the loading process. Further investigation is ongoing.

The explosion, which damaged buildings up to 100 meters away, occurred as workers were unloading cargo from the two trucks at a construction site in Guangzhou, the Guangdong capital, at around 3:40 pm.

About 100 fire fighters and police extinguished the blaze after a hour.

Following an emergency meeting on Friday, the city government ordered a safety check throughout the city and said that all unsafe venues would be closed.
