Chemical plant blast kills 3

XIANGSHUI -- Three people were killed in a chemical plant blast in east China's Jiangsu Province on Tuesday, according to local authorities.

The blast occurred at 10:11 a.m. when three groups of workers were working in the dyestuff workshop of the United Chemistry and Technology Co. in the Xiangshui county of Yancheng City in central Jiangsu.

Three workers were found dead while more than 10 were injured, according to a local government official on condition of anonymity, but some witnesses noted that the number of wounded could be 30 to 40.

No further information is available at present while cleaning up work and investigations into the cause are continuing.
