"The central government will fully support the Macao SAR government and its chief executive to administer the region in line with the law and to realize the greater development of Macao," said Wen at a meeting with Ho Hau Wah, Macao SAR Chief Executive, who came to deliver an annual report on his work.

The central government will adhere to the principle of "One Country, Two Systems" and to the Basic Law of Macao as it has done previously, Wen said.

At the meeting, the Premier expressed appreciation of the progress Macao has made and the work of Ho and the MASR government in the past year.

"We believe that Ho Hau Wah and Macao SAR government will unite the people from all walks of Macao society, find proper solutions to the problems Macao will face in the future and maintain the favorable circumstances that have existed since the region returned to the motherland (in 1999)," Wen said.

Vice Premier Wu Yi, State Councilors Tang Jiaxuan and Hua Jianmin, and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Liao Hui were also present.
