Poetry unlocks woman's memory

Observers were quite moved on Friday when an elderly woman suddenly regained her memory and recognized her family.

The woman, who was stricken by brain disease 10 years ago, recovered after her sister read her some ancient poems they had learned together when they were children.

Wang Zhijin, a resident of Qingdao, Shandong Province, had been living in a home for the elderly. Last week her older sister was also sent to the home for a short stay.

Wang's sister was reciting the poem , when Wang suddenly joined in. The 81-year-old gradually regained her wits and was able to recognize some of her family members.
