BEIJING -- China will hold a nationwide examination on December 9 to recruit civil servants for the central government, according to the Ministry of Personnel.

The online registration system will be opened to public from October 23 to November 2 and applicants can log on www.mop.gov.cn to complete their registration.

Civil servant applicants for customs need to log on www.customs.gov.cn to accomplish the registration.

The exam will not open to those who were once criminals, sacked ex-civil servants, and cribbers discovered in civil servants exams from 2005 to 2007, according to the ministry.

Being one of the hottest competition in China, more than 530,000 applicants contested for 12,700 jobs last year, about 42 people competing for each job on average, according to the statistics of the ministry.

According to the exam schedule, the exam includes two sessions, the administrative aptitude test(AAT) in the morning and the essay test in the afternoon on December 9.

China has been organizing civil servant recruitment examinations every year since 1994.
