Eight killed in Henan traffic accident

At least eight people died and 24 others were injured in a traffic accident in Central China's Henan Province on Monday, local police said on Tuesday.

A bus carrying 32 people, including 30 tourists, a driver and a tour guide, overturned at a section of a highway in a mountainous area of Jiaozuo City at about 8:40 am Monday. The bus then fell into a roadside ravine, leaving two dead on the spot and 30 others injured, according to local police officers.

Six of the injured died in hospital while others are still receiving treatment.

The tourists are all employees of a milk corporation based in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. When the accident occurred, they were making sightseeing in Qinglongxia Reserve.

Local police have launched an investigation into the accident.
