WENZHOU -- Divers retrieved five bodies from a reservoir in east China's Zhejiang Province on Friday afternoon, bringing the death toll from a bus accident to 16.

The five bodies included four adults and a young girl, while the other 11 bodies have been retrieved and sent to a funeral parlor in the morning.

The accident happened at about 7:00 a.m. when the bus with 23 people on board hit a truck head-on and went over partition blocks before falling more than 10 meters into the Pengxi reservoir in Taishun county, according to a police officer.

The bus has also been salvaged from the reservoir.

More than 300 local people took part in the rescue operation after the accident occurred.
