Cross-talk master Hou Yaowen dies at 59

Hou Yaowen, China's renowned cross-talk master, smiles to audience in this undated photo. He died of sudden heart failure on June 23, 2007, at the age of 59. According to Wang Yang, Hou's prentice, Hou, a householdly beloved cross-talker, was suddenly stricken by a severe heart attack at home, and the emergency medical staff tried their best to save him, but to no avail.
