Accompanying Osborne is a delegation of 20 UK high-tech companies that were taken to Huawei Shenzhen headquarters. They held negations with different Huawei department staff and hoped to explore potential business opportunities, the news release said.

Ren Zhengfei said the United Kingdom has the world's most talented high-tech professionals. Human resources, together with the UK's open and free trade economy, create a good investment environment for Huawei. "I am very confident in Huawei's future in the United Kingdom," Ren said.

Huawei has been actively expanding in the European market recently, especially in the UK, after major countries notably including the United States and Australia rejected the Chinese telecom equipment maker's entry into their markets, citing national security concerns.

Some Huawei officials told China Daily that Huawei was disappointed by those obstacles to expansion. "Huawei hopes to calm down disputes by turning to other markets that seem to be more friendly," they said, asking not to be named.

However, Huawei's efforts to provide local job opportunities, as well as offering generous investment packages, still failed to gain it full acceptance in the UK.

In July, the UK government said it would conduct a probe into Huawei's Cyber Security Evaluation Center. The center's major task is to monitor Huawei's participation in the UK's telecommunications infrastructure, but it is run and funded by Huawei itself, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
