BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN -- A Chinese petrochemical company and the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) held on Monday a joint stakeholder engagement session that involved several government agencies and local communities.

The Chinese firm, Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (HYBN), from Zhejiang province planned to build an 8 million ton/year refinery complex in Pulau Muara Besar, Mukim Serasa, Brunei.

Attendees include the Brunei-Muara District Officer, officers from Marine Department, Fisheries Department, Royal Brunei Police Force, Department of Labor, Royal Navy, head of villages and Mukim Serasa consultative members.

The aim of the dialogue was to brief and update the surrounding communities on HYBN's refinery project and its implication, whilst providing a platform for local communities to voice their concerns.
