Chinese shares close mixed Thursday

BEIJING -- Chinese shares closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edging down 0.09 percent, or 1.88 points, to end at 2,044.89.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.23 percent, or 18.77 points, to finish at 8,114.87.
