BEIJING - HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited said Friday its parent company the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited has replenished its capital with 2.8 billion yuan ($442 million).

It was the first capital replenishment with the Chinese currency by a foreign bank in China since the country launched pilot projects for such practices in August this year, the company said in a press release.

The move increased the registered capital of HSBC China to 10.8 billion yuan and made it the biggest foreign bank in terms of registered capital in the Chinese mainland, it said.
