Since it was founded in 2006, a BMW award for excellent university students has given a total of 500,000 yuan each year to 100 outstanding students from low-income families who have gone on to attend universities including Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Northeastern University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Sun Yat-sen University.
By 2009, when the program's fourth ceremony was held in Guangzhou at Sun Yat-sen University, a total of 400 students had benefited from the fund. Some of them have already started their careers after graduation while others have furthered their studies
BMW has not only given financial support to outstanding students, but also places a high value on cultivating practical ability.
Last year 10 of 100 award winners passed the rigorous selection process and became participants in the 2009 summer internship program at BMW production facilities in Shenyang.

To diversify the internship, BMW also arranged for a series of weekly visits and training programs, including seminars on company history and corporate social responsibility, forums on details of the BMW Brilliance product lineup and visits to local BMW dealerships.
By providing financial aid and plant experience, BMW aims to encourage students to gradually set an appropriate career direction and gain a sense of social responsibility, and ultimately become polished talents that can contribute to society and enterprises across the globe.
As students face increasing job-hunting pressure, internship experience at a multinational corporation such as BMW puts participants in a much more advantageous position on the job market.
