Background

The Qiantang River Bridge (Qiantangjiang Bridge) near Hangzhou was completed in 1937.

The bridge was designed by Mao Yisheng, a Chinese structural engineer and an expert on bridge construction.

It was the first dual-purpose road-and-railway bridge designed and built by China.
