The Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway is not as popular as it was one month ago when it first launched. The trains are now running with a vacancy rate of up to 70 percent from Beijing to Shanghai, the Oriental Morning Post reported on Monday.

The report said people can buy Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway tickets anytime they want now, as opposed to when all tickets sold out at a fast pace one month ago.

After a high-speed train that had lost power was struck from behind by another train in late July, people have been more willing to take ordinary trains. According to the report, ordinary trains tickets from Beijing to Shanghai are being limited, making it so one person can only buy a maximum of five tickets at one time. These trains have been very crowded, like in the Spring Festival.
