Chinese equities fell on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 2.34 percent, or 76.14 points, to close at 3,179.08 points. The Shenzhen Component Index lost 2 percent, or 273.25 points, to close at 13,391.72 points.

Combined turnover totaled 199.25 billion yuan ($29.30 billion), rising from 196.97 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
