Chinese shares rise for 3rd consecutive day

Chinese equities closed higher for the third consecutive day on Friday, as resources shares gained on continual market optimism over economic recovery.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,372.6 points, up 44.11 points, or 1.33 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 13,531.72 points, up 10.07 points, or 0.07 percent.

Combined turnover rose to 337.95 billion yuan ($49.47 billion) from 298.69 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
