China's money supply saw a robust growth in the first quarter. As a sign of ample liquidity, the M2, which includes cash and all types of deposits, grew by as much as 25.51 percent year-on-year to reach 53.06 trillion yuan in the first quarter, according to the central bank’s newly released figures on Saturday.

Analysts said the increase is strikingly high in the first quarter and it is time for the government to monitor whether the robust money supply has helped boost the economy.

China has set a target of 17 percent for M2 growth this year. But analysts forecasted that the real money supply may exceed the target.
