Kingsoft' 08 profit jumps 87%

Kingsoft, a major software developer in China, said its net profit in 2008 increased by 87 percent to 310 million yuan ($45.36 million), driven by the booming performance of the online gaming sector.

Kingsoft' 08 profit jumps 87% UFIDA eyes M&A on rising profits

The company posted annual revenue of 820.9 million yuan in 2008, a 47 percent increase over the previous year, of which the online gaming sector contributed 67 percent, the Hong Kong-listed company said in its annual financial report on March 31.

In 2008, the online gaming business brought 553.7 million yuan to King Software, a 40 percent increase year-on-year. Currently, the company runs eight online games, among which six are self-developed.

Revenue from its software sector in 2008 increased by 67 percent to 261.2 million yuan, and its anti-virus software contributed 77 percent.
