China's Blu-ray digital coding technology adopted

The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) has adopted China's DRA digital audio coding technology as part of the Blu-ray Disc format.

BDA said it has included DRA technology, developed by Guangzhou-based DigiRise Technology and proposed by China Hualu Group, as an optional encoding and decoding technology for the BD-ROM format.

The announcement is believed to be a breakthrough for Chinese companies participating in the making of international technology standards, which have long been dominated by foreign companies.
