China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), China's largest port construction and designing firm, said it has won a 1.79 billion yuan railway construction contract, according to a government website.

The Hong Kong-listed construction contractor will build a part of the railway connecting Hunan province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, said a statement on the website of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC).

The company also signed an agreement with the Wuhan city government to take part in city planning and infrastructure construction in the transportation hub in Central China.

As one of the 141 State-owned companies under the administration of SASAC, CCCC is the main constructor of China's ports and waterways.

CCCC, whose subsidiary Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery is the world's largest container crane maker, said in its 2008 medium report that its operating revenue rose 29.1 percent to 75.75 billion yuan in the first half of 2008, 14.2 billion yuan of which were from projects outside the Chinese mainland.
