China's search engine users soar to 203 million

The number of search engine users in China went up by 33.6 percent to 203 million by the end of 2008, according to a report by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).

Over 70.1 percent of the users were in the 30-year age group, CNNIC said.

In 2008, Baidu and Google were the top two search engines in terms of market share. The report said 76.9 percent of China's search engine users opted for Baidu, compared with 16.6 percent for Google, 2.9 percent for Sohu.com and 1.6 percent for Yahoo.
