Nissan Motor Co said it aims to sell 570,000 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in China in 2009, up 4.59 percent from 2008.

Japan's third largest auto company sold 545,000 vehicles in China in 2008, up 19 percent from 2007. The 2008 sales growth was largely driven by the introduction of seven new models. Dongfeng Motor Co Ltd, the 50-50 joint venture between Nissan and China's Dongfeng Motor Group, said that sales in 2008 increased 16 percent from 2007 to 708,000 units.

The venture projected sales will exceed 1 million units by 2012.
