China Mobile is planning to open its own online software store that could be fashioned after the model pioneered by Apple Computer of the US, Wang Jianzhou, chief executive of China Mobile, said.

Wang, who manages the country's largest cellphone operator, said that his company is studying Apple store business model to see how it can be adapted into its own "Mobile Market". The store will carry software products from various different developers around the world.

Earlier reports said China Mobile broke off negotiations with Apple Inc to introduce the popular iPhone into China. Some experts said it was because China Mobile refused to accept Apple's policy of selling iPhone applications directly to customers at its online store.
