China Southern Power Grid Co said on Tuesday it aims to sell 506.8 billion kWh of electricity in 2009, up 5 percent year-on- year.

The company, which manages power supply in five provinces and autonomous regions in south China, said power demand in the region would recover gradually in the second half due to the government's economic stimulus plan.

Most of the regions overseen by the company will see a balance between power demand and supply this year, with Guangdong alone expected to see some power blackouts during the summer.

The State Electricity Regulatory Commission earlier said power demand and output in China will continue to fall this year as a result of the economic slowdown.
