Fujian targets 10% growth in 2009

Fujian targets a 10 percent of economic growth in 2009, said Huang Xiaojing, governor of the province, in his work report to the region's 11th people's congress opened today.

The fixed assets investment in 2009 is scheduled to increase by 15 percent, and foreign trade growth of 10 percent, said Huang at the ongoing meeting.

"Ensuring economic growth is our top priority this year," said Huang. "We will expand investment, enhance key infrastructures construction, and stimulate consumption to expand domestic demand."

In 2008, Fujian's gross domestic product (GDP) rose to 1.0863 trillion yuan ($158.82 billion), up 13 percent year-on-year, and the government's fiscal revenue increased by18.2 percent to 151.6 billion yuan, said Huang.

Last year, Fujian's fixed assets investment increased to 527 billion yuan, up 22 percent year on year, and the foreign trade volumes accumulated to $84.8 billion, up 13.9 percent compared that in 2007.
