China's car sales slumped 10 percent from a year earlier in November, the third monthly fall, official data showed on Friday, a sign that the car market is still weak due to the economic downturn.

Passenger car sales hit 522,800 units last month, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said.

China has sold a total of 7.94 million vehicles in the first 10 months of this year.

The CAAM once forecast that China would sell 10 million vehicles this year, a target that many analysts said will be hard to achieve.
