China's fastener-makers swap dumping grievances with Europe

Chinese iron and steel-fastener makers filed an anti-dumping complaint against their European Union rivals in response to possible EU anti-dumping measures against China.

China General Machine Components Industry Association and five other industrial associations filed the complaint to the Ministry of Commerce today on behalf of the country's iron and steel-fastener makers.

Fu Donghui, a lawyer with AllBright Law Offices, who represents the Chinese businesses told China Daily about the complaint today, but declined to elaborate.

The European Commission charged Chinese fastener makers of dumping on the European market and suggested imposing a punitive 63-67 percent duty on imports from certain Chinese iron and steel fasteners earlier this month. The investigation started in November 2007.

If the decision takes effect it could impact more than 3,000 Chinese businesses.
