China's power consumption is projected at 3.53 trillion kWh in 2008, up 8 to 8.5 percent State Grid Corp said in a report.

For the first three quarters, power demand growth declined by 5.45 percentage points from a year earlier due to a slowing economy and natural disasters early in the year.

The company expects electricity consumption to rise around 5 percent in the fourth quarter.

China posted double-digit growth rates in both power production and usage in recent years as its economy accelerated.
