Securities houses under pressure of soaring online trading

"That's the loophole that investors wouldn't normally notice in a weak market," said Wu Ke, an analyst at Zhongtian Investment Consulting Co. "Previously brokers didn't specify the terms on force majeure to investors and people usually neglected them."

To curb potential technical glitches and resulting disruptions, the bourses ordered brokers to report the operations of their technical systems in the latest year and form emergency plans to deal with trading problems, the source said.

"If big technical problems prevent investors from normal trading, brokers must report the case to the bourse and work out emergency proposals to correct them," the Shenzhen bourse's notice said.
