Haima M2 sedan, S3 SUV to debut at Shanghai auto show

FAW Haima Automobile Co is set to unveil its heavyweight new models M2 sedan and S3 SUV at the upcoming Shanghai auto show later this month, along with its other five new models.

The M2 sedan model developed by Haima Auto comes with 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter versions, looking like the current Mazda 2 in the market; the S3 SUV will be equipped with Haima's 2.0-liter engine and a 2.5-liter engine for choice, and its size is similar to Beijing Hyundai's Tucson, but with a smaller wheelbase.

In addition, Haima Auto will display its new-generation Premacy MPV H2, first A00 sedan M1, first minivan Fstar, all-electric vehicle Me and parallel electric vehicle Mpe at the Shanghai auto show.

Haima Auto plans to focus on developing its own brands in the Hainan and Henan manufacturing bases and Shanghai R&D center. The company expects to develop and make more new-energy vehicles. By 2010, Haima Auto will have four platforms and seven vehicle product series, including MPV and SUV.

According to its marketing and sales plans, Haima Auto will speed up its penetration into the tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The company had more than 350 dealerships by the end of 2008 and the number will increase to 500 this year. Haima Auto aims to see its sales grow up 15 percent in 2009.
