Former senior official of Hunan under investigation
Ye Hongzhuan, former member of the Party Leadership Group and vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and laws, and is under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision announced on Wednesday.
Ye, 67, of the Tujia ethnic group, is a native of Hunan. He started working in 1975 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1976.
Spending his entire career in Hunan, Ye's work was closely linked to Xiangxi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture from 1977 to 2021.
He began serving as the governor of the prefecture in 2009 and was promoted to its Party chief in 2013. In 2018, he took up the post of vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress while concurrently holding the position of the Party chief of the prefecture, a dual role he retained until March 2021.
After that, he only served as a member of the Party Leadership Group and vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress. In January 2022, Ye resigned from the position.
