Edmond Ling Chi-ho believed he could achieve his goal of helping 100 domestic compatriots earn more than one million yuan ($140,845) within a year through his artificial intelligence cross-border marketing system in the following years.

"After achieving the goal, I will organize a special awarding ceremony to invite them to share the experience of earning money from overseas markets via the AI marketing system," said the young entrepreneur from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Born in the post-1990s, Ling, who had once been engaging in cross-border e-commerce in Hong Kong for eight years, now operates a cross-border marketing company, Lazy Marketing, in Guangdong's Zhuhai special economic zone, which borders the Macao Special Administrative Region.

"Many domestic compatriots actually are expecting to sell more of their products abroad, but they did not know how to sell their products abroad, as they did not know the shopping habits of their overseas customers," he said.

"Therefore, I wanted to develop an AI cross-border system to assist them with their first step in overseas sales," he said.

And Zhuhai is a city where dreams can come true, he said.

Ling said he decided to set up his company in Zhuhai when he found the city had actually introduced many preferential policies to attract and support young people from Hong Kong and Macao to start their business in the city.

"To my surprise, it took me less than a day to have gone through all the procedures, including applying for an operating license, free to run a company in Zhuhai," he said.

And Zhuhai's Xiangzhou district government offers Ling a two-year rent-free office and a one-year rent-free talent apartment, according to Ling.

"That has greatly helped me reduce the entrepreneurial costs," said Ling.

In addition to the office in Zhuhai, Ling, whose company was established in May 2024, has now set up offices in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, and Hong Kong.

"I hope the Zhuhai office will become a research and development center, while Guangzhou a technology hub and Hong Kong a global window in the following years," he said.

According to Ling, his AI cross-border system has attracted more than 6,000 clients worldwide.
