Poyang Lake has recently welcomed its first flock of winter migratory birds, marking the start of this year's migration season.

As the early arrivals among winter migrants, bean geese and spot-billed ducks are usually the first to reach Poyang Lake.

By late September, reserve staff had recorded over 200 waterbirds, including more than 50 geese and over 150 ducks, in the Baisha Lake area of the Poyang Lake Nanji Wetland National Nature Reserve in Nanchang, Jiangxi province.
