Peace Ark brings new wave of medical aid


TIMELINE
2008: The hospital ship Peace Ark enters service.
2010: The vessel undertakes Mission Harmony 2010, its first overseas assignment. It visits five countries in Asia and Africa and provides local people with medical services.
2011: The ship carries out Mission Harmony 2011, during which it offers free diagnoses and treatment to the residents of four countries in South America.
2013: Peace Ark visits eight Asian countries to conduct Mission Harmony 2013. It also offers humanitarian medical aid in the Philippines after the country is hit hard by Typhoon Haiyan (aka Super Typhoon Yolanda).
2014: The vessel undertakes Mission Harmony 2014 in four countries in the South Pacific Ocean region.
2016: Peace Ark and four other vessels from the People's Liberation Army Navy participate in the Rim of the Pacific Exercise, a multinational naval training event.
2017: The hospital ship provides humanitarian medical assistance in eight countries in Asia and Africa during Mission Harmony 2017. It also completes the PLA Navy's first voyage around the African continent.
2018: Peace Ark undertakes Mission Harmony 2018. During the 205-day voyage, the hospital ship provides services in 10 countries in the South Pacific Ocean region and South America.
2022: The vessel provides seven-day medical services in Indonesia during Mission Harmony 2022. It is the ship's first overseas voyage since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in late 2019.
