Swiss air quality technology company IQAir sees big opportunities in the Chinese market amid the growing demand for products such as allergy masks and technology that can help better manage the indoor air environment.

Frank Hammes, global CEO of IQAir, said "As living standards in China have greatly improved, staying healthy is becoming even more important. We see more families with young children interested in clean air and we see a wider recognition that clean air plays an important role in reaching a healthy old age".

"Meanwhile, more Chinese employers recognize that clean air is an important part of a productive workplace," Hammes said in an online interview with China Daily at the sidelines of the ongoing fifth China International Import Expo, which is being held in Shanghai until Thursday.

Hammes said that China, which is the company's third largest market, has made "amazing progress" in reducing air pollution in recent years and local consumers are attaching higher importance to indoor air quality.

"There is a growing demand from technology that can help reduce indoor air pollution, " the senior executive added.

According to him, the CIIE is a symbol of China's openness to global trade. The CIIE is not only a platform but also a window for visitors as well as governments and industries into what the world has to offer.

At the expo, IQAir showcased its Atem X, a smart, slim, designer air purifier, which the company said can effectively filters viruses, bacteria, mold spores, smoke, fine dust and ultra-fine particles.

Atem X uses several patented and patent pending technologies to increase air cleaning performance, while reducing noise, energy consumption and the overall size of the air purifier, IQAir said.
