A report on China's urban mobility safety was published by French tire and mobility company Michelin on Wednesday in Shanghai, looking to provide insights for safe, convenient and green transportation on roads.

Thanks to the consistent education of safety knowledge and the establishment of laws and regulations, the awareness of safety has been growing among pedestrians and drivers, though there still remain certain unsafe factors as less than 40 percent of the polled respondents said they strictly follow the use of safety seats and the wearing of helmets in riding, said the report.

With the popularity of smart mobile device, as much as 70 percent of the respondents interviewed said they have never made calls or sent text messages while driving, or checked mobile phones or electronic devices when crossing the road, the report added.

This year's insight report, or the "2021 Michelin China Safe Mobility Survey Report,", received more than 3,000 feedbacks from several Chinese cities both online and offline. It was conducted jointly by Michelin China and Southern Weekly Research Institute, and supported by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences .

"By extending safe mobility to better mobility this year, we expect to create a more sustainable environment for people's mobility experience so as to contribute to a better life," said Kamran Vossoughi, president and CEO of Michelin China.
