Local production gets a new push in Shanghai
Shanghai is hosting an exhibition featuring products designed and manufactured by local companies.
The authorities are hoping that the three-day event through to Sunday will showcase over 100 local brands, launch 1,000 new products and facilitate sales of 10 billion yuan, as the city pushes to advance local manufacturing might.
Under the auspices of the "Shanghai Design 100+"initiative, the gala has selected 1,541 design projects from 920 designer teams from around the country, according to the Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, an organizer of the event.
Exhibits cover some 30 areas, including aerospace and aviation, transportation, robots, as well as more consumer-facing fields like skincare, smart wearables and furniture and clothing.
